A sometimes neglected area of modern urban development are production facilities along with commercial and industrial structures where aesthetic, ecological and social considerations seem to frequently be regarded as having little or no relevance.As a specialist in commercial real estate finance, the Hypo Real Estate Group concerns itself with the natural environment via its pbb Stiftung Deutsche Pfandbriefbank. Commercial buildings in particular demand holistic, integrated thinking about the surroundings being created. Organisational functionality alone is not enough.
For this reason, the pbb Stiftung Deutsche Pfandbriefbank has been awarding the Architecture Prize for exemplary commercial buildings every 2 years since 1992. This competition comes under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Transportation, Construction and Urban Affairs and the Association of German Architects (Bundesverband deutscher Architekten – BDA). With this initiative, the pbb Stiftung Deutsche Pfandbriefbank creates a link to the commercial real estate financing of pbb Deutsche Pfandbriefbank.
